The End of TMG
For those who have loved and used The Master Genealogist (TMG) software program, there is sad news to report. It has been decided that TMG will be discontinued at the end of the year. Although I do not use TMG, I have great respect for the program and its high standards in software programming. To me, all other programs have tried to match the advances TMG offered over the years as an industry leader.

World War I Centennial
In honor of the upcoming (August 2014) centennial of the start of World War I, here's a photo of a Philadelphia doughboy, who has its own hero in my cousin Mary Dankanis. The statue once stood in the Northern Lights neighborhood of Philadelphia for 55 years, then disappeared for 6 years. Cousin Mary--a fixture in the Northern Liberties neighborhood of Philadelphia and a force to be reckoned with--decided that the statue had to be returned. Over a 14-month period between 1980 and 1981, Mary coordinated efforts by collecting signatures and speaking to local authorities demanding its return. Ultimately she won the battle to return the statue to the neighborhood. Its current location is on the corner of 2nd and Spring Streets, in the heart of Northern Liberties, where it remains standing tall and proud. Enjoy!

Evernote--Looking for Tips!
I just participated in a webinar on how to use Evernote. Thanks to the APG Virtual Chapter for hosting the webinar, and thanks to Lisa Louise Cook (Genealogy Gems podcaster) for walking us through the basics. I've been using Evernote for a short and still have a lot to learn.
For those who are interested in learning about Evernote, or if you have been using it for a while (like me!), Lisa offers a Quick Reference Guide entitled Evernote for Genealogists. There's the laminated copy for $6.95 or the .pdf download for $5.95. And there are versions for both Windows and Mac computer users. Check it out here: http://lisalouisecooke.com/tag/evernote/. I recommend the .pdf file, which can stored within the Evernote app on your computer.
She also has several short videos on her Genealogy Gems website available for viewing through her premium member site.
So much to learn, so little time! :)
