Good news today in the mail! :) and a couple of conferences.....

It's official!! I received my official notice that I am a member of the DAR--Daughters of the American Revolution.  Wow!!
And no, my Revolutionary War ancestor was not a famous revolutionary.  He was simply a teenager (aged 16) who played the fife while marching with the soldiers in Connecticut. In fact, he wasn't supposed to be there, but he was a substitute for his older brother and a friend who were to play but dropped out at the last minute. Just a fluke of a moment. By the way, his name was William Fosdick.

On another note--the Southern California Genealogy Society's Jamboree conference is fast approaching--June 6-8.  There is also a DNA workshop on Thursday, the 5th. It's taking place at the Burbank Marriott hotel, across the street from Burbank (Bob Hope) Airport. I'll be attending the full conference starting on the 6th. There is still time to sign up (at http://www.scgsgenealogy.com/), but I hear that the hotel rooms are difficult to find. Luckily, I'll be commuting.

One last note--the Salt Lake Institute of Genealogy (SLIG) registration for their January 2015 Institute will start on June 7th, during the Jamboree conference. Definitely worth the week in Salt Lake City. And they've moved to a new hotel this time around--the Hilton, which is in walking distance to the Family History Library. If you attending either one, let me know. We could met up! :)

Until next time....
Kathy
